Meet Suzy

I believe the way we gather matters.

My story has taken me from teaching in Japan to building a career in tourism and hospitality, producing hundreds of weddings and events, championing sustainable tourism, creating spaces for women to gather, and ultimately finding my way home to Hype with Heart.

On paper, those experiences might look like very different chapters.

To me, they've always been connected by one thing:

People.

I've always been fascinated by what happens when we create the conditions for people to truly connect.

Living and teaching in Japan introduced me to a different way of experiencing culture, hospitality and community. My years in tourism taught me the power of place and the importance of creating experiences people remember. More than a decade in weddings and events taught me that the smallest details can make people feel deeply cared for.

My work in sustainable tourism deepened my belief that where we spend our dollars matters. That local relationships matter. That the farmers, makers, growers, chefs, venues and small businesses behind an experience should be part of its story.

And somewhere along the way, I realized all of those threads were leading me toward the same thing.

Hype with Heart.

This is my Ikigai. The intersection of what I love, what I'm good at, what I believe our communities need more of, and how I want to contribute.

I am a connector by nature. A community builder. A storyteller. An experience curator. A lover of good food, beautiful tables, wild places, big ideas and the people brave enough to bring them to life.

I'm also your hype girl.

The person who sees what's special about what you're creating and wants other people to see it too.

And after years spent working throughout Vancouver Island, I've developed an enormous love for this place I get to call home and the people who make it extraordinary.

I believe in buying local. Gathering locally. Collaborating generously. Creating less waste. Sharing stories. Sitting beside someone new. Staying at the table a little longer.

Because I've learned that the most meaningful experiences aren't necessarily the biggest or the most elaborate.

They're the ones where people feel and create the energy.

That's the heart behind Hype with Heart.

Food is medicine.

Community is medicine.

Connection is medicine.

And there will always be a place to share at the table.
